New in Nuclino: Canvas improvements and more

nuclino-product-update-2

Your ideas deserve a better canvas – and that’s exactly what we’ve been working on! This update brings some of your top-requested features and enhancements to Canvas in Nuclino.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new.

Shape colors

Shapes can now be color-coded to better organize your ideas. Use different colors to group related objects, highlight important details, or just make your diagrams more visually engaging and easier to interpret.

Text

You can now add text directly to your canvas. Use it to label diagrams, explain concepts, or add context to your visual ideas without needing separate elements.

Object duplication

Need multiple copies of the same shape, text, or image? Simply right-click it and select Duplicate. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + D – or hold Alt while dragging the object.

Faster and smoother experience

We’ve optimized performance across the board, making every interaction with Canvas feel snappier and more responsive – especially with large, complex diagrams or moodboards. Navigating, zooming, and editing should feel much smoother now, so you can stay focused on your ideas without distractions.

New ways to add images

Adding visuals to your canvas just got easier. Now you can:

  • Drag-and-drop from the web: Found the perfect image for your moodboard online? Just drag it straight into your canvas.

  • Paste from clipboard: Copy any image to your clipboard and paste it straight into your canvas. No need to save and upload files manually.

Other small but impactful changes

It's often the details that define the entire experience. Here are some of the improvements we've released since our last update:

  • We’ve added support for BlueprintUE embeds, making it much easier to share Unreal Engine blueprints directly in Nuclino.

  • You can now paste multiple files into the editor instead of adding them one by one.

  • Nuclino now supports AVIF images, a more efficient format that keeps quality high while reducing file size.

  • Links in PDFs are now clickable, so you can open them without leaving Nuclino.

  • Typing in languages like Japanese, where character input needs to be confirmed, now works better in Sidekick and across the app.

  • Date fields with reminders now show up correctly in the board view.

  • We improved how Nuclino handles unexpected errors during file uploads.

  • A rare issue that sometimes prevented switching away from the list view has been fixed.
